DR. ANTHONY HLYNKA
Dr. Hlynka graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine in 2003, and then completed residency training in Family Medicine. After nearly fourteen years of practice in Winnipeg, he has now called the Okanagan home. His areas of special interest include diabetes, asthma and allergy. Dr. Hlynka has an academic appointment at the University of Manitoba where he has been involved in teaching and mentorship of undergraduate and post graduate medical students. He is an advocate for physician health and wellness, and has presented at regional and national conferences on this topic. Outside of his academic activities, his interests include culinary arts, magic and yo-yos. When not at work, he can probably be found running on a secluded trail. He has also completed several ultra marathons, including 50km, 50 mile, 100km and 100 mile races.
DR. AMERICA URIBE LIMA
Dr. America Uribe Lima obtained her MD degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. After finishing medical school, she spent 18 months as a post-doctoral scholar at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She then immigrated to Canada and spent six years as Research Coordinator in the Division of Rheumatology at the BC Children’s Hospital. She then completed a two-year Family Medicine residency in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She has worked as a family doctor in Enderby, Kelowna, and now Lake Country.
DR. BRIAN MARTIN
Dr. Martin grew up in Kelowna and attended Washington State University, as well as the University of Alberta for his undergraduate work. He also attended the University of Alberta for his medical school, and subsequently entered the UBC Family Practice Residency Program. After graduating there, he came back to Kelowna to work locums and Emergency, until he joined Lake Country Family Practice in 1992. He is married to Correne, his high school sweetheart, and they have raised three wonderful children. His interests include ultra-endurance cycling, hockey and traveling with Correne. During riding season, which is from March to October, his bike can be seen parked at the back of the lunch room, as he enjoys riding back and forth to work in the beautiful Okanagan weather.
DR. DONNA SORENSEN
Dr. Sorensen grew up on a farm in the Peace region of Northern Alberta. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology/zoology at the University of Calgary, she attended medical school at the University of Alberta, obtaining her Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1993. She then completed a residency in Family Medicine, also at the University of Alberta in 1995 and then practiced in a few communities in Alberta prior to moving to Lake Country in August of 2013. She lives in Lake Country with George and their 3 dogs and 2 cats. She enjoys gardening and hiking and plans to make more time for other activities now that she is working closer to home.

DR. PETER DUX
Dr. Dux graduated from the University of Toronto in 1976. He spent the first part of his career working in family practice, emergency medicine, and occupational health in Ontario. In 1999 Dr. Dux moved to Lake Havasu City in Arizona, where he spent his time working in family practice and in emergency medicine. During his tensure in Ontario, he wrote two research papers. In the spring of 2019, Dr. Dux left Arizona and joined the team at Turtle Bay Medical. When he is not working, Dr. Dux enjoys tennis, skiing, biking, reading and spending time with his wife and family.
DR. PAUL NICKERSON
Dr. Paul Nickerson grew up in Port Coquitlam BC and spent his summers in Lake Country. He attended Simon Fraser University for his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and was a member of the SFU swim team. He completed medical school at the University of British Columbia and residency training in Family Practice through Dalhousie University. Dr. Nickerson is married with 3 children. Interests include teaching medical students, skiing, Thursday Night Hockey and driving his kids to dance, cheer, gymnastics, and volleyball.
DR. TOM WRIGHT
Dr. Tom Wright, originally from Bristol, South West England, obtained a bachelor’s degree in public health in addition to his medical degree from Cardiff University in Wales. He then began practicing family medicine and has done so for the past eight years. After falling in love with British Columbia and the Okanagan, Dr. Wright and his partner moved to Canada in September 2020. Dr. Wright enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and walking his two dogs. He loves to travel and enjoys trying new cuisine. You may be surprised to know that Dr. Wright is fluent in Spanish!

CHRISTINE, REGISTERED NURSE
Christine grew up in Lake Country and has many fond memories of the area. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan. Since then, Christine has worked in a variety of environments: surgical, medical telemetry, emergency, critical care, and now community care/family practice. In her free time, Christine enjoys photography and scrapbooking, as well as spending time with her husband, Kiffer and their three children. Together, they enjoy travelling, camping, hiking, and everything else that the Okanagan has to offer!
